The Principal Consultant, Peter Taylor is a Member of the Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand and a Registered Farm Water Resource Consultant with the Commonwealth Department of Primary Industries, and Chairman of the Regional Committee of Irrigation Australia Limited. Peter has been preparing Environmental Impact Statements for a period of 20 years for Local developments including Abattoirs, Intensive Livestock facilities, Quarries, major irrigation developments on the Darling River system, rural industries and urban development proposals. He has also assisted Councils and other state government bodies with the preparation of Environmental Assessment Reports to meet their responsibilities under various legislative and internal audit requirements. SMK Consultants has prepared numerous Farm Water Management Plans, Land and Water Management Plans and Drainage Irrigation Management Plans under NSW and Qld Legislative requirements, and Contaminated Site Management Plans. The expertise gained in this work has enabled us to provide an efficient service to meet the needs of developers, regulatory authorities and the public through the preparation of Environmental Statements and Reports to assist with the process of managing and maintaining a viable rural sector.

Paul Covell has had 35 years experience in the Surveying Profession. His experience covers such areas as Cadastral Surveying of property boundaries, survey, design and supervision of small to large engineering projects, and the survey, planning and implementation of small to large irrigation development. These projects involve survey and design of small to large residential developments including the design of roads, storm water, sewerage and water supply systems, to large flood irrigation developments for the growing of cotton, cereal crops
and tea tree oil. These irrigation developments involve the preparation of detailed plans for the construction of supply channels, pipelines, water storages and the land levelling of fields.

Ralph has gained 33 years of experience in the field of Cadastral and Engineering Surveying in both NSW and QLD. Ralph specialises in the planning of developments from our Queensland offices and is presently managing the Sudanese project.
Michael Henderson

Mike has been actively involved in the survey and design of irrigation projects in northern NSW and southern Queensland for the last 28 years. After 5 years with the then Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission of NSW, he formed and was a Director in a local Engineering Surveying Company specialising in irrigation development. For the past 20 years, Mike has been based in our Goondiwindi office as the Senior Irrigation Consultant. He has extensive experience in the planning, survey layout and design of irrigation fields, supply channels, tail water reticulation systems and on farm water storages, from the initial investigation through to final construction.

Richard joined the company from Local Government. In his time with Local Government his roles and responsibilities have involved all areas of Town Planning, Building Surveying and Strategic Planning, as well as environmental assessment and regulatory control. Richard has a sound knowledge of NSW environmental and planning law and the approval processes required by Local Government and the many different state government bodies and authorities. Prior to his time with Local Government Richard was involved in the design and construction management of on-farm irrigation systems where he pioneered water saving irrigation technologies. He was also project manager for a number of environmental engineering projects that involved the installation of pollution control and wastewater treatment equipment in coal mines in NSW.
